24th HIGH TIMES Cannabis Cup Day 4 Raids

According to representatives for HIGH TIMES magazine, sponsors of the 24th Annual Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, the event will continue tonight with a scheduled concert at the Melkweg concert hall (Lijnbaansgracht 234), followed by a full day of the expo (including voting) at the Borchland (Borchlandweg) on Thursday, the final day of the competition. An additional voting station will be set up starting at 2PM on Thursday at the Melkweg, which will remain open until the beginning of the official Cannabis Cup awards ceremony at 8PM.

Organizers say that their interactions with Dutch law enforcement started over a misunderstanding about a permit application filed by the venue to host the event, a situation that lead to a clearing of the expo by law enforcement. The misunderstanding has since been resolved.

No attendees were arrested and attendees are not the targets of the police presence. Police entered the expo to ensure that all vendors were in compliance with tax laws and a 500 gram limit for cannabis that's enforced in the Netherlands. Only one vendor has been identified as potentially over the limit, and if so, only slightly. Continue to check for the latest coverage of this ongoing global ganja event!

That really bites. The US war on drugs, brought to us during the Nixon administration when they classified marijuana as a schedule 1 narcotic. That put weed in the same category as heroin and cocaine. The doomed war on drugs was furthered by Nancy Reagan's stupid 'just say NO' campaign. The US has wasted more tax dollars on this lunacy by arresting and incarcerating folks that don't belong in jail. You won't hear it on mainstream media here but the war on drugs has enabled cartels to make obscene profits. Meanwhile the wars drag on. We did not belong in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore than we belonged in Viet Nam. As for that stupid war on drugs, it's a failure. It's turned a lot of productive citizens into criminals, folks that should never have been arrested in the first place. Meanwhile, we have criminals in Congress, Senate and on Wall Street. Protesters are being pepper sprayed, beaten and dragged to jail on a daily basis here. All i can say is if any of the boneheads challenging Obama actually defeat him, I'm moving to Canada, BC to be precise. I have family there and as I understand it, they have in effect legalized marijuana. I used to love this country but the US is going down the toilet if some serious changes aren't made.

2: raid was because of the harddrugs and they confiscated plenty of that.

I was there too. They confiscated peoples weed and hash. Less than 5 grams or not. Put a downer on the whole thing. Im from the uk, have been going to amsterdam for many years. First time somethiing like that had happnd. Jts never going to feel the samethere. And if it meeses up in amstrrdam, the whole of europe will be affectedd. Prices, attitudes, crime rate. Pokiticians need to get their priorities straight. F all this crap. Im moving to north india. Hve a easy life.
