Can Weed Feel Like Magic Mushrooms? Johns Hopkins Researchers Put THC to the Test

A four-person Johns Hopkins pilot study found that 25 mg of oral THC could produce altered-state profiles that qualitatively resembled those seen with 25 mg of psilocybin, particularly when consumed in a setting modeled on psychedelic research. The sample is far too small to establish cannabis as a psychedelic, but the findings add to earlier research suggesting that dose, context, and individual response can push THC experiences into unexpectedly psychedelic-like territory.

Weed Can’t Get Past 34%. The Labels Go to 42%. The System Rewards the Lie.

Someone bought fifteen cannabis products off Denver shelves and sent them to a lab. Two came back legal. On average the labels claimed 34.2% more THC than the products held. A Spanish engineer who has spent sixteen years scanning flower explains why the incentive to inflate runs through every link in the chain, why California calculates that fixing it costs four times what consumers would gain, and what would actually break the loop.

Exclusive: New Study Finds People Drinking THC Beverages Reached for Alcohol Half as Often. Every Product Tested Is About to Be Banned.

MoreBetter tracked 4,516 people across 36 hemp THC beverages for three weeks each. On days participants drank one, their modeled probability of also drinking alcohol fell from 22.9% to 10.9%, significant for 23 of the 36 products and moving the same direction in every case. Fifty days after the study ended, 63% of those surveyed said they were still drinking less. None of the 36 products would clear the federal cap arriving in November.

Cannabis Withdrawal Treatment: Experimental Drug Shows Promise in Small Trial

An experimental drug combining nabilone and gabapentin reduced the severity and bothersomeness of cannabis withdrawal symptoms in a small randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving adults with moderate-to-severe cannabis use disorder. The results offer an early signal of potential benefit, but with only 14 participants, a short study period and financial ties to the drug’s developer, much larger trials will be needed

Cannabis Cured Me Twice, and I’ll Show You My Medical Records

Seven years ago, Ed Rosenthal’s PSA numbers spiked and a biopsy confirmed prostate cancer. He declined the interventions his doctor laid out, remained under active surveillance and took CBD. A month ago, six biopsy cores, including samples from areas where cancer had previously been found, showed no cancer. When Colorado voters legalized cannabis in 2014, I was attending a big

CBG Protected Memory in a Schizophrenia Model. The Reason It Worked Wasn’t the One Scientists Expected.

Repeated CBG treatment prevented a long-term recognition memory deficit in male rats given MK-801, a compound used to model the cognitive impairments seen in schizophrenia. CBG did not restore the BDNF protein levels MK-801 had lowered, but it raised TrkB messenger RNA in the medial prefrontal cortex, pointing to a mechanism the researchers had not expected.
