Do filmmakers who smoked weed outnumber the ones who never have? Probably. Here are nine filmmakers who get down with the ganj.
Danny Devito’s characters are even funnier stoned, maybe because the actor is a smoker himself. Devito is best recognized for his roles in Romancing the Stone, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and his directorial debut Throw Momma From The Train.
In addition to his iconic on-screen comedy, DeVito has worked on many culturally significant movies through his production company, Jersey Films. His production credits include Pulp Fiction, Gattaca, Get Shorty and Garden State.
Considering his work in everything from comedy to sci-fi to a Quentin Tarantino classic, it makes sense that DeVito enjoys creatively inspiring weed. Before he was famous, DeVito lived with Michael Douglass in New York.
“We were herbalists,” DeVito jokes, about his bohemian 1960s lifestyle.
Today, DeVito vocally supports marijuana legalization. “Even if one doesn’t smoke pot one has to see the benefits of decriminalising it! Still No Smoking and Driving bitches. Stay at the party!” DeVito tweeted.
