August 9, 2015, marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Jerome John “Jerry” Garcia, groundbreaking lead guitarist, co-founder of The Grateful Dead, author of dozens of memorable songs and one of the great American musical icons of any era. All Summer long, we’ve seen and heard commemorations of Garcia’s legacy, and it’s coming to a head this Sunday, known as the end of the “Days Between,” a term taken from a Dead song denoting the week-plus commemoration of Jerry’s birthday (August 1, 1942) until the anniversary of his death on the 9th.
