A standout cannabis event this May is Mother’s High Tea in Denver, CO. Mother’s High Tea is a biennial event celebrating pioneering women of legalization and cannabis business, sponsored by 4 & 20 Blackbirds. Join cannabis educator and entrepreneur Christie Lunsford and cannabis maven Susan Squibb, along with inspiring speakers, on May 14 at the History Colorado Center in Denver.

Mother’s High Tea is a non-consumption event for women and mothers in the cannabis community. Children are welcome to attend this community event, as are gentlemen in the cannabis business. Activities for children (and all guests) will include crafting a teapot ornament, solving word search puzzles, and letter-writing to elected officials to encourage political engagement. A photo booth with fun props will be a highlight! A delectable buffet of tea sandwiches, treats and tea will include pistachio macaroons, and honey-and-hemp oatmeal cookies.

This year’s Mother’s High Tea speaker line-up features many accomplished women. Diane Fornbacher, editor and publisher of Ladybud Magazine, a longtime activist and NORML board member, will share poetry. Kristi Kelly, founder of Good Meds Network in metro Denver and founding board member of The Fourth Corner Credit Union, will be speaking. AC Braddock, CEO of Eden Labs in Washington State will also attend, and the keynote speaker is Colorado State Senator Beth Martinez Humenik.

Susan Squibb and Christie Lunsford are the event co-chairs and emcees. Mother’s High Tea was founded by Susan in 2011 to honor her own mother. Susan has been active in the legalization and cannabis business communities since the mid-1990s. Currently, Susan runs 4 & 20 Blackbirds event production company, directs operations at Steep Hill in Denver, and writes the weekly marijuana advice column, “Ask the Cannabist” for The Cannabist.  Christie Lunsford is a cannabis industry executive, entrepreneur and educator. She is a member of NCIA, a founding member of Women Grow, and acts as a consultant and mentor to many.
