As legal cannabis consumption continues to rise, we’ve seen an influx of pot-centric plots on both the small screen and in theatres. With shows such as Weeds and Disjointed, in addition to cult films like Pineapple Express and Woodstock, we’ve seen an increasing amount of casual marijuana-usage from a variety of demographics. Sure, we were introduced to the legendary stoner duo Cheech & Chong way back in the 70’s, but in today’s legal landscape, media and pot are intertwined like never before. Now, Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet will get a crack at being an on-screen stoner, as the teen is set to play a local weed dealer in his upcoming flick, Hot Summer Nights. We have a hunch it will be the role of a lifetime.

Timothée Chalamet Gets The “Roll”  Of A Lifetime

See what we did there?

Anyway, Chalamet will star as a teen weed-smoker-turned-dealer in this coming of age comedy set during the 1980’s when the stigma associated with marijuana was much more prevalent.

In the film, Timothée Chalamet’s character gets sent to his aunt’s house in Cape Cod for the summer, where he meets an older local, played by Alex Roe, who introduces him to the underground pot scene.

After toking up for the first time, Chalamet garners an interest in dealing and begins giving the older drug dealer a lesson in economics.

“The problem is we’re dealing dime bags to teenagers,” Chalamet explains to his business partner “We need customers who buy in bulk.”

Obviously, Chalamet garners the attention of a young woman named Makayla (played by Maika Monroe)during his dealing exploits, and she becomes his love interest in the film.

Unsurprisingly, however, the trailer takes a dark turn, when it depicts Chalamet’s character selling some product to an older man, who fires a pistol right in front of the naive teen. Then, we see a montage of less-than-desirable circumstances, including a house fire, a police chase, and an ominous hand of a police officer swiping the side of his vehicle.

The movie is set to debut in theatres July 27, 2018, and it marks the directorial debut of filmmaker Elijah Bynum.

What better way to watch the movie than on a hot, summer night?

Final Hit: Timothée Chalamet Set To Play Teen Weed Dealer In His Next Film

While it remains to be seen whether or not Hot Summer Nights will be revered like other coming-of-age stoner flicks a la Dazed and Confused and Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the trailer certainly looks promising. Timothée Chalamet has already proven his chops as an actor, and from what we can see from the trailer, this go around looks no different. He might have to squint a little more than he’s used to, but other than that, portraying a young weed-dealer should be a seamless transition for the Ladybird star.
