B-Real Wins License to Open a Dr. GreenThumb Dispensary

High Times 2014 Stoner of the Year, B-Real, has won a license to open a marijuana dispensary in SoCal’s Orange County.

Just six of 630 applicants were awarded the right to operate a dispensary. Talk about striking it rich! B-Real’s clearly got the marijuana Midas touch, considering that his company, Dr. GreenThumb, just won big at the SoCal Cannabis Cup. B-Real told Billboard: “We were actually there when the ball was pulled and we were definitely excited. Out of 630 applicants to be in the top six of the first pull was very exciting for us. So we’re extremely happy and optimistic towards how this is gonna all play out.”

The longtime marijuana aficionado said his music career will add a boost to his weed ventures. He’s been a vocal supporter of legalization in his lyrics for over two decades. And of course, B-Real TV delivers daily news, smoking sessions, and cannabis culture. The weed impresario said, “We’re in a unique position because we have a lot of history behind us as it relates to music and the pro-legalization movement. I think it goes hand in hand, so for us to have a collective I definitely want it to be eye candy, eye-popping, eye-catching, an experience. We want it to be a place where you can come get quality meds responsibly and all that stuff, but we want it to be an experience as well.”

B-Real just released a mixtape, The Prescription, under his moniker Dr. GreenThumb, featuring collaborations with Ab-Soul, Dizzy Wright, Demrick, Snoop Dogg, Snow Tha Product, A$AP Ferg and more. And a new Cypress Hill album will be out later this year. Until then, B-Real — Dr. GreenThumb — will be focusing on providing SoCal patients with really great weed.
