By now, you’ve seen or heard of 3D movies. You wear glasses that make you feel like you’re a part of the film. Well, select theaters will be taking things a step further, allowing you to smell what’s going on. That’s right—the new Matthew McConaughey movie will have weed smell-o-vision.

Matthew McConaughey Smoking Weed

Matthew McConaughey is returning to his roots. He took on a new role in a stoner comedy flick.

Matthew got his start when he perfectly fit the role of a young stoner. His first major role came after his audition for Dazed & Confused. He plays a mean stoner, but has he ever been caught smoking weed off-screen?

The American actor has a history of smoking cannabis and playing the bongo drums. In fact, he was arrested in 1999 for doing exactly that… naked.

“What’s wrong with beating on your drums in your birthday suit?” the 47-year-old actor asked Playboy. “I have no regrets about the way I got there.”

Since McConaughey was arrested for possession of marijuana, we’re guessing weed had something to do with how he got there.

He has no shame or regrets in regard to his past.

In fact, he claimed the only lesson he learned from the experience was to “shut the window that has the beautiful scent of jasmine blowing in because it’s two in the morning and you might wake a neighbor.”

Snoop Dogg and Matthew McConaughey’s New Cannabis Comedy

Snoop Dogg and Matthew McConaughey’s new cannabis comedy called The Beach Bum will be the first of it’s kind.

In fact, the director, Harmony Korine, intends for audiences to experience the movie with live bongo drum rolls and puffs of marijuana smoke. Hopefully, the audience isn’t inspired to strip down to their birthday suits like McConaughey did in 1999.

There aren’t many details available about the movie, other than the fact that the plot revolves around cannabis consumers. Deadline reports that McConaughey’s character will be named Moondog, “a rebellious charmer in this fast-paced, uplifting and irreverent comedy.”

If you get to see the movie in one of the select theatres that will have weed smell-o-vision you can leave the incense and body spray at home. Smelling dank shouldn’t be a big deal when your theater will smell the same.
