Yes, rose petal blunts are a thing. In fact, they could be the dopest new way to smoke weed now that the trend has started picking up steam on social media.
The buzz about rose petal blunts started after a woman using the Twitter handle @simple_sasha tweeted a quick video tutorial. Almost immediately, the video blew up.
It quickly racked up huge numbers of views, almost 100,000 retweets and more than 250,000 likes. After the original video gained all that momentum, other videos and images of people making and smoking rose petal blunts have started popping up all over the place.
According to Sasha’s video, rolling a rose petal blunt is simple. As she explains in the video, you basically pull some petals off a fresh rose, heat them in the oven for a few seconds and then stick them together end-to-end.
At that point, you’ve got what looks like a Backwoods wrap, but one that’s made out of rose petals instead of a tobacco leaf. From there, Sasha says you roll it up just like you would if you were using a regular blunt wrap.
At the end of the video, she places the finished blunt back in the oven for a few more seconds. “Just make sure that it sets one more time for about two minutes,” she says. “Let it rest or it won’t smoke right, and then you can go ahead and light it up once your done.”
As proof that rose petal blunts really do work, she sparks up and takes a couple hits. Judging from the thick clouds of smoke she exhales, it looks like rose petal blunts smoke as well as anything else.
In response to the video, many viewers have wondered what it’s like smoking a rose petal blunt. In particular, there has been a lot of concern over whether or not it’s safe to smoke rose petals.
Sasha doesn’t answer all these questions. But she does speak a little bit to the experience of puffing rose petals. She describes the blunt as “very floral, really good.”
And for those who are worried about safety, there’s no real reason to be alarmed. Many tobacco blends already include rose petals—along with various other herbs and flowers. Similarly, people regularly use rose petals in their hookahs.
Of course, inhaling smoke of any sort isn’t the healthiest thing to do to your lungs. But there is no reason to worry that smoke from rose petals is any worse than smoke from tobacco—or cannabis for that matter.
At the end of the day, it looks like rose petal blunts could become the next big trend in the world of weed. Rolling a blunt using rose petals could be a good way to mix up your regular routines. And, according to Sasha, it could give your blunts a new layer of flavor as well.
