WATCH: Cannabis Cup Winner’s Epic Wedding Proposal at Dead 50

When a multiple Cannabis Cup winner decides to get engaged, he goes all out. That’s why Chris – aka OG Kushman – of the Source Genetics chose to ask his future bride, Clara, for her hand in marriage smack dab in the middle of the Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well run at Chicago’s Soldier Field. Watch the footage below, then read the (ahem, slightly biased) description by witness John McCooe.

For those of us fortunate enough to have attended any of the recent Fare Thee Well shows in Santa Clara and Chicago, I think we have come to a general consensus: That was fucking awesome! From start to finish, it truly was the experience of a lifetime. The musicianship, the video and light production, the rainbow, fire works on Independence Day… everything went above and beyond any preconceived expectations. It is without a doubt, the Grateful Dead are the greatest American rock band of all-time. That’s not an opinion; it’s a fact! They transcend time and allow us to open our hearts to each other and the universe in a very real way. The intense amount of energy that was felt inside those stadiums is almost indescribable, and it was pretty mind-blowing.

So when my buddy, Chris from the Source Genetics, three-time Cannabis Cup winner, got down on one-knee and proposed to his fiancée, Clara, with “Tennessee Jed” playing in the background, you can only imagine the amount of love that was felt… So, we decided to upload this video and show you! High Times wishes Chris and Clara all the best — and as Chris said when winning his first Cannabis Cup for Best U.S. Indica Flower in Seattle 2014: “Give thanks to the Grateful Dead and the pot we smoke every fucking day!”

And special thanks to dj pierce, NYC filmmaker and co-founder of Global Glue Project for the video!
