Tea time and 420 are close together for a reason. With all the hype around matcha and marijuana’s incredible health benefits, the two make a perfect pairing. Here’s how to make weed-infused matcha tea that’s as green as it gets.
Matcha has been getting a lot of press lately, and not without reason. Matcha is a powdered green tea originally from Japan. It contains the whole plant leaf, as opposed to just infusing the hot water with tea leaves.
Matcha’s health benefits are manifold. Since it contains the whole tea leaf, you’re absorbing an incredible amount of antioxidants. Some estimate that matcha contains 137 times the number of antioxidants than regular green tea!
In addition to antioxidants’ ability to lower cholesterol and blood sugar and prevent cancer, matcha will also speed up your metabolism. Just like weed, matcha can contribute to weight loss, and can promote a feeling of calm.
It feels like new studies discover more about medical marijuana every day. To date, the herb can treat a variety of difficult symptoms and illnesses, ranging from seizures to addiction.
At a bare minimum, weed can reduce inflammation, treat pain and improve your mood on a day-to-day basis.
There are several ways to experience the health benefits of both matcha and weed in one delicious (and potent) drink.
The first way is to infuse a fat, like a dairy product or coconut oil/butter with cannabis. This beverage will have a latte-like consistency.
Another way is to use add a sweetener with THC or CBD, like cannabis honey. The laziest way is to buy matcha that already contains cannabis.
To make a matcha latte, the first thing you’ll need is canna-milk. This can take awhile (up to three hours), so get started.
Always begin by calculating the dosage.
0.5 – 1.0 gram of weed per quart of milk should work, as a rule of thumb. As with our weed-infused pumpkin spice latte recipe, we recommend you use full-fat milk.
Remember, weed is fat soluble so the fattier the milk, oil or butter you use, the more effectively it absorbs THC content.
Next, turn your stove on high. Now, you have two options: you can either add your milk and weed directly into the pot, bring it to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer and stir it routinely for the next couple hours.
Or, you can add water to the pan, bring that to a boil, and place the milk and weed in a steel bowl on top of the pan. Though more complicated, this second approach will prevent your milk from burning or curdling. Plus, it requires less stirring.
Now let your canna-milk simmer for a couple hours.
This process is known as decarboxylation. In other words, you have to heat marijuana for cannabinoids like THC and CBD to activate.
After infusing your milk with Mary J, strain it with a cheesecloth.

Once you’ve made your canna-milk, incorporate it into your matcha recipe. For hot matcha, combine:
Let the milk simmer on the stove. Whisk the matcha powder with 1/4 cup of boiling water before adding the canna-milk and agave, to taste.

Heat all these ingredients on the stove or in the microwave for 45 seconds. Next, blend or whisk ingredients together until foamy.
Shake it in a cocktail shaker with ice before pouring it over fresh ice.
For those looking for how to make weed-infused matcha tea without all the preparation, you can always add CBD-infused honey. There are some great options for cannabis-infused honey. Companies that offer pre-made canna-honey include Bird and the Bee and the California-based Honey Pot.

Replace agave or sugar with cannabis-infused honey. But beware if you’re already using canna-milk.
