5 Weed Strains That Will Get You Spooked

With October right around the corner, Halloween vibes are already in the air. Unfortunately, latex Scream masks, cheesy Halloween movie and haunted houses don’t have that same terrifying effect as they once did when we were youngins. Fortunately for us, that’s something some strong weed can fix. We decided to find the ideal strains to bring you back to the days of being a frightened child on Halloween night. Take a look at the top five weed strains that will get you spooked.

5. Chemdawg

We’ll kick this list off with Chemdawg—one of the strongest hybrids available today. Its roots trace back to Kush, Hash Plant and Northern Lights, and it typically contains THC levels between 15 and 20 percent. One particular strain of Chemdawg even managed to top out at a whopping 25 percent during the 2011 Denver Medical Cannabis Cup.

Chemdawg’s sativa roots give its users an intense, cerebral high, so don’t be surprised if you get a little paranoid after heavy use. On the bright side, the high might give you exactly what you wanted—being afraid of your own shadow.

4. Cookies

Cookies is an indica-dominant hybrid, and one of the most popular strains of weed on the market today. It’s also one of the most potent, so don’t be surprised if you’re ultra-stoned after taking a few hits of this stuff.

Although the strain is typically used to treat anxiety and stress, smoking enough cookies will certainly put you on your toes. The couch-like high it provides is perfect for smoking up and putting on a scary movie, and will most definitely get you a little extra scared.

Oh, and it’s known to provide its users with a serious case of the munchies, so make sure you have a ton of Halloween candy on deck.

3. Sour Diesel

Sour Diesel, a hybrid that is roughly 90 percent sativa-based, is another strain that will surely get you spooked for the holiday. Unlike Cookies, this Diesel won’t get you glued to the couch, but it will spark a creative, cerebral high.

If you’re in the Halloween mode, it may lead you to change your stance on that whole “I don’t believe in the paranormal” thing. You might be in your own head a little bit, but that’s OK; you were looking to get spooked, weren’t you?

2. Zombie Haze

If the name itself doesn’t scare you, the high will.

A cross between OG Kush and Blackberry, Zombie Haze will turn any mortal man into a zombie—minus the decaying skin, repulsing stench and the irresistible urge for human flesh. What it will do, however, is get you so high that you don’t wanna get up from the couch. And when you do, well, chances are you’re going to be moving at the pace of an actual zombie.

The lethargic high that comes after smoking a little Zombie makes it best to smoke at night— when everything also happens to be extra spooky.

1. SunRocks

SunRocks is more of a scientific creation a la Frankenstein’s monster than it is actual weed strain, but it’s by far the most powerful weed you’ll ever smoke. It’s an update to the popular innovation MoonRocks, except a hell of a lot more powerful.

It’s made up of a top-shelf quality bud, dipped in wax and then coated with kief. It is rumored to contain around 80 percent THC content, which basically makes it as strong as dabs. Apparently, rapper and weed-smoking legend Snoop Dogg is even afraid to smoke it, which should absolutely terrify any body thinking about going near the stuff.

Final Hit: Five Weed Strains That Will Get You Spooked

If you are someone who is somewhat susceptible to intense, psychological highs, then you might want to check out these strains to heighten some of your innate sense of fear and dread. Keep in mind, most of these highs could go both ways, but it’s up to your own mind to create the experience. If you’re looking to get spooked, make sure you go into the smoke-sesh with that mentality and puff away. Like Scooby-Doo himself, you’ll be afraid of faux-monsters and costumed ghouls in no time at all.
