Grow Q&A: Marijuana Greenhouse Security

Dear Dan, I’m growing in a greenhouse now for several years, but some of the younger people living nearby have found out about my plants and I’m worried that they might come and try to steal something from my grow space. Is there any way I can secure my greenhouse so that I don’t have to worry about thieves running away with my crops? – Dani near Barcelona

Dear Dani,
The best way to secure your greenhouse is to put a strong lock on the door and employ some security such as motion detection lights that will alert you to the presence of intruders. Hopefully, the bright light coming on will scare off any thieves without you having to confront them personally. The lock won’t keep them from cutting through the tarp material or breaking the glass to intrude, but it should work as a deterrent to make them think twice before trying to rip you off. It might not be a bad idea to get a dog that can let you know someone’s on your property.
