What Guides Us. What We Protect. How We Work.

Our Purpose

High Times exists to protect and amplify the cultures cannabis and psychedelics have shaped — and continue to shape. We’re not here for algorithms, headlines, or quarterly reports. We’re here to tell stories that matter, build community, foster consciousness, and ensure the next generation inherits a culture with its soul intact. Our work honors those who came before, those who keep this culture alive today, and those building its future.

Editorial Standards

Truth First

  • Facts matter. Context matters. Accuracy matters.
  • Quotes must be real, sourced, and attributed. No paraphrasing. No fabrication. No AI-generated quotes.
  • Stories must be verifiable. Speculation isn’t reporting. Opinions are fine — if they’re labeled as such.
  • Transparency is non-negotiable. Disclose sponsorships, conflicts, and relationships clearly.

Voice & Tone

  • Speak from lived experience. Write like a human.
  • Avoid clichés, AI-speak, and corporate jargon — unless you’re deconstructing it.
  • Humor, irreverence, and creativity are welcome. Bullshit is not.
  • Write for the real ones — those who live this culture — and for the curious, too. Everyone is welcome. Every reader is a potential friend. Every mind changed is a win.

Balance: Independence & Sponsors

Editorial comes first. Always. Sponsored content is clearly marked. We accept sponsorships and partnerships, but never pay-to-play editorial. There’s room for collaboration — without compromise.

What We Cover

Cannabis

  • Culture, cultivation, science, history, activism, and community.
  • Business — only where it intersects with culture, access, or justice. Or when the story is genuinely newsworthy.
  • People over corporations. Grassroots over greed.

Psychedelics

  • Consciousness-enhancing substances, practices, and explorations.
  • No glorification. No fear-mongering. Context matters.
  • Serious when needed, playful when possible.

Culture

  • Music, art, writing, design, creativity, resistance.
  • Counterculture roots. New voices. Big ideas. Loud visions.
  • Celebrate the strange, the funny, the inspiring.

Community

  • Global perspectives. Local stories. Underdogs. Pioneers.
  • The ones who grow, create, organize, and dream deserve the mic.

What We Reject

  • Sanitization of culture to appease corporate sensibilities.
  • Clickbait with no substance (clever headlines are great — if the story delivers).
  • Exploiting trends without depth or meaning.
  • Gatekeeping. We’re not the center. We’re here to serve the culture, not control it.
  • False activism for personal or financial gain.
  • Commodification of rebellion. Don’t sell it back slick and hollow.
  • Anything that betrays the roots we’re here to protect.

Coverage for Child-Oriented Cannabis Marketing

We do not and will not publish positive editorial coverage of any cannabis product or brand that markets to children — directly or indirectly. This includes packaging, branding, flavors, characters, and campaigns that appeal to minors in form or spirit. This is non-negotiable. The long-term future of cannabis depends on responsible, ethical communication. Marketing to kids undermines everything this culture has fought for — and we won’t participate in it.

How We Work

  • Collaboration over competition. Always.
  • Curiosity over ego. Celebrate people — but no heroes. It’s about all of us.
  • Impact over speed. Go fast when needed, but never at the cost of substance.
  • Substance over style. But yeah — style is welcome.
  • Integrity over algorithms. But we play the game, strategically, to make an impact.
  • People over platforms. Every time.

Our Responsibility

We carry the torch for a culture that fought to survive. We are stewards of a history that was nearly erased. We are building something meant to outlive us. Every story we publish, every voice we amplify, every joke we share — it all adds to the legacy, or takes from it. Choose wisely.
