Who We Are. Why We’re Here.
High Times is a gathering place. It has been one since 1974, passed hand to hand, generation to generation, from the people who grew the plant when growing it could cost you everything to the people writing its next chapter now.
We stand with the growers, the breeders, the artists, the rebels, the weirdos, the healers and the seekers. The ones who always knew this plant, these substances and this culture were never a trend to cash in on. They are lifelines. They are how people connect, create, cope and, sometimes, survive.
We have been around long enough to know what holds up and what does not. Truth holds up. Culture holds up. Community holds up. What we report, how we report it and who we report it for, all of it matters.
We believe in the truth.
Real reporting. Real stories. Real culture. We follow the evidence even when it complicates the easy version, and we say so when it does. No shortcuts. No sellouts. No fear.
We believe in consciousness.
Cannabis, psychedelics, plant medicines. Handled with respect, they open doors. To rest, to insight, to relief, to a different way of seeing the same life.
We believe in community.
This was never built by corporations. It was built by people, and a lot of them paid for it with prison time, careers and reputations. We cover the ones who built it and the ones still fighting to keep it theirs.
We believe in creativity.
Music, art, writing, activism, cultivation. This is where the culture actually lives. We hand the mic to the people pushing it somewhere new, not the ones repackaging it to sell back.
We believe in joy.
Humor matters. So does weirdness. So does the plain pleasure of getting together and enjoying yourself. In a world this tense, that is not a small thing. Sometimes it is the whole point.
We believe the next generation deserves the real thing.
Not watered down. Not commodified. Not measured in likes and shares and sold back to them in slicker packaging. The real thing, the way it was handed to us.
We honor the past. We write the future.
High Times was built by rebels, and we carry that forward with reverence, not nostalgia. We are here to build, to protect and to keep evolving. To report what is true, preserve what matters and remind people what this was always about. Truth, creativity, consciousness and community.
