Private retailers will sell cannabis, monitored by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. Authorities plan on initially handing out 60 dispensary permits. 40 different municipalities in Saskatchewan will have retail locations, along with 20 remaining for First Nations communities. However, First Nations communities must have populations of at least 2,500 residents to qualify.
Saskatchewan was the last province to publicly announce its marijuana laws in Canada. This legislation mandates that you head home immediately after buying weed. Yet legislators haven’t set the price of marijuana yet. Saskatchewan will set prices based on what other provinces have decided.
Justice Critic for the New Democratic Party, Nicole Sarauer explained the marijuana laws in Canada for this province. “You can’t stop, for example, to get gas on your way home,” she said. “You can’t stop to get groceries on your way home, essentially, we’re treating cannabis like a restricted firearm.” If actually enforced, this legislation will require intense policing. The main goal is to stop being from smoking weed in their cars.
In addition to an outdoor cannabis ban, marijuana is barred from schools and daycares. Regarding private property use, landlords can ban marijuana growing and smoking. In homes allowing marijuana use, you can grow the federal limit of four marijuana plants.
