A newly launched creative agency is bringing its experience with top global brands to the cannabis industry, focusing its talents on the small but expanding market for luxury brands. The Los Angeles-based agency, Ethereal, was founded by four leading creative professionals who have pooled their experience and resources to provide services to a growing list of top-shelf cannabis brands.
Ethereal has already signed on several clients that are making a name for themselves in the luxury cannabis products niche including House of Saka, Van Doran, Major Flower, TSO Sonoma, D’Fleur, Seven Vices, Asha, and Klaus. With its full range of services, Ethereal strives to bridge “the gap between tradition and innovation by marrying emerging technologies and strategic intelligence with all the traditional trappings of branding like visual positioning, brand strategy, and public relations,” the agency wrote in a press release.
Ethereal’s four founders have a collective CV that features work for leading brands including Mercedes-Benz, BMW Motorrad, Burberry, Fortune, Adidas, FILA, Dior, Whole Foods Market, Sports Illustrated, Starwood Resorts and Hotels Worldwide, ICON 4×4, Flont, jetBlue, and Richemont. Their work with top luxury names is bolstered by proficiency in regulatory compliance garnered from experience with pharmaceutical brands Pfizer, Novartis, Innocoll, and AstraZeneca, giving them valuable insight necessary to successfully represent cannabis brands.
“The cannabis industry is growing at lightspeed, but it has yet to firmly establish itself in the luxury marketplace,” said co-founder John Mamus, a creative director and designer who has worked for clients including Mercedes-Benz and jetBlue Airways. “The opportunity is massive, and we have the passion and experience to help the most forward-thinking brands take full advantage.”
Ethereal’s team of founding professionals is rounded out by managing director Masako DiDio, an executive with branding and leadership experience at Burberry and Maison Dior; creative director and writer Tod Brilliant, who has developed projects for Microsoft, Samsung, Converse, and others; and award-winning photographer and videographer Pablo Aguilar, the creator of iconic images for Adidas, Fila, Sports Illustrated, Vibe, and other publications.
The Ethereal executive team is supported by an international network of creative professionals with decades of experience working in the virtual space, which gives the agency the ability to serve clients wherever they are located.
“ETHEREAL is nimble and purpose-built for creative excellence, efficiency, and cost effectiveness,” Mamus said.
That capability and experience are proving invaluable as the agency launches in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that has left some traditional agencies scrambling to adjust to the new business environment. The coronavirus crisis has also given additional purpose to the launch of Ethereal, which has pledged to donate a portion of its revenue to Doctors Without Borders.
