The 2018 Amsterdam Cannabis Cup is happening this week! If you’ve already bought your ticket and made your travel and lodging arrangements, here are just five (out of many) reasons to get excited about the three-day festival. And if you’re still on the fence, here’s what you’ll be missing out on if you decide to stay home instead.
There’s a Live Joint Rolling Competition
Do you fancy yourself an expert at rolling joints? Why not put your skills to the test? The 2018 Amsterdam Cannabis Cup will feature a joint rolling competition on Saturday, July 14th. The competition is open to everyone and will be judged by High Times staff. Don’t be shy; we’re all friends here! Come on down and let the good times roll.
The Musical Line-Up Features Waka Flocka, Bone Thugs, and More
If you’ve been to a Cannabis Cup before, you know that the live concerts are not to be missed. From the musical line-ups of critically acclaimed and award-winning artists to the vibrant and elevated energy of the crowd, these performances are ones you’ll remember for years to come. The 2018 Amsterdam Cannabis Cup will end each night of the festival with live performances by Afroman, OG Maco, The Original Wailers, Berner, Ty Dolla $ign, Waka Flocka, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. Check out the official lineup for more information.
You Can Get Your Self-Care Squared Away with Yoga Sessions
We know that traveling can be stressful. Especially if you’re traveling to another country. Relieve that tension and promote wellness with some yoga sessions! Friday and Saturday sessions will be hosted by Jummee Park, who will utilize her specialized yoga method, which weaves together Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Gestalt Awareness, and 5Rhythms. On Sunday, attend a cannabis-friendly session hosted by Ganja Yoga and taught by local Amsterdam yogi Ilma. Get your smoke and stretch on!
Cup Comedy Shows will have an International Appeal
We all know that weed can make you more prone to laughter. So why not check out a comedy show? The 2018 Amsterdam Cannabis Cup will feature comedy hours on Saturday and Sunday from 4:30 to 5:30 with stand-up sets by comedians from around the world. Come and laugh with Bob Maclaren (from New Zealand), Niel Robinson Mc (Canadian), Pauly Russel (representing Scotland), Michael Jaeger (from Germany), Sam Hulmes (hailing from the UK), Carly Baker, and Al Pitcher (both from the US).
You, yes YOU, get to Judge the Competition!
The Amsterdam Cannabis Cup is the only cup in which guests can act as judges in the competition. When you buy a Judge’s Pass, you’ll have the opportunity to try the flower, edibles, hash, and more from the 2018 Amsterdam Cannabis Cup competitors.
Here’s how it works: when you get a three-day judge’s pass, you’ll go on an exciting self-guided tour of the local coffee shops who have entered the Cannabis Cup competition. At each coffee shop, you can purchase the various strains, edibles, and hash that the coffee shop staff have put forth for the competition. At the end of the tour, you’ll get to try out each product and then vote for a winner in each category. Think of it as a pub crawl ending in the People’s Choice Awards!
The coffee shop tour runs from Friday at 12 pm until Sunday at 4:20 pm. Voting takes place at the Melkweg at our voting table. All ballots must be in by Sunday at 4:20.
As a special thank you for your commitment, we’ll give you a gift bag with various accessories, tools, and other fun memorabilia.
