Study: Psilocybin Helps Depression in Cancer Patients

Can magic mushroom ease the pain of cancer patients suffering from depression?

A new study, featured on the front page of the New York Times, suggest that they can:

Published Thursday, the results from that study, and a similar small, controlled trial, were striking. About 80 percent of cancer patients showed clinically significant reductions in both psychological disorders, a response sustained some seven months after the single dose. Side effects were minimal.

The story says the study was the “most meticulous” of the small number of trials investigating the use of psilocybin as medicine.
