Celebrating 4/20 In Style

Our favorite cannabis holiday isn’t cancelled just because of COVID-19!

Just because we’re locked inside doesn’t mean we’re forgetting about the holiday. As an official centerfold taster, I wanted to share a few of my 4/20 must-haves in order to make the most of the High Holiday. Some of these are staples, some are dream items, but all of them are guaranteed to help you take your favorite day to the next level, and look damn good while doing it.

Jaunt

Jaunt

Let me start by saying I have the ‘Mint Set’ as the centerpiece of my table at home and in a house of things I think are truly fkn dope, this gets by FAR the most comments from visitors. Although you probably won’t be entertaining too soon, these elegant and eye-catching pieces don’t feel like paraphernalia – they’re ceramic art. It took me several months after receiving these guys before I actually used them… they’re so beautiful that you just want to stare at them, and you don’t want to get them dirty. Well friends, I’m pleased to tell you that these things not only have amazing function and visual appeal, but they’re surprisingly easy to clean, and quick to bring back to display form. Hailing out of Philadelphia, PA, all of Jaunt’s products are made here in America out of natural materials. Keep an eye out for their new ashtray launching soon – for someone like me who usually has a few different clips chilling in the tray, it’s the perfect design to keep your butts clean!

Big Bambu

Big Bambu

One of the most polarizing tools in my arsenal is my go-to paper selection, the Big Bambu’s. Arguably one of the most iconic papers of all time, you probably recognize the design from that giant Cheech & Chong record if you’ve never used them yourself. While I have heard from OG’s for years that I should be using Raws, or a hemp-based alternative, a joint doesn’t feel like a real joint to me if it’s not wrapped in a bambi. These are a little thicker than other brands, but they are big, burn even, and my favorite part – they stay lit. If you are looking for the size feature but are unwilling to look past hemp the Bambu line also comes in pure and organic hemp, so you’ll never have to sacrifice your priorities for a good smoke!

Haring Glass Collection

I’ve probably written about the new Haring Glass collection already in one of these pieces – I’m a HUGE fan so being able to take these classic works and infuse them into my rituals for a more personalized experience is a great touch for me. Sure glass is great, but it’s hard to love a regular beaker. I am very comfortable with saying that I love this piece – both as a display item and as a regular part of my routine. However, my favorite part about the collection are their catchalls. I don’t know why they call an ashtray a catchall, maybe it’s meant to be used for something else, but that’s how I’ve been using it and let me just say – when you’re roasting bones all day there’s a lot of less-than-stellar remains leftover. Somehow, keeping those leftovers in a Bat Man designed glass bowl makes them feel SO much classier.

G-Pen

GPen Roam

I’ve had a few weeks to play with this thing now and I gotta give it to them – GPen figured it out. Concentrate vaporizers are a crowded market, and it’s increasingly difficult to stand out. Usually when people ask for rec’s on vaporizers I would first ask about the most important functions to them – but now I just tell them they should go get the Roam. It’s kind of amazing that more people haven’t adopted the loading mechanism that the Roam boasts – making it not only quick and easy to get product into the device, but a truly CLEAN process. Usually after a few weeks of use these devices find a way to leak oil outside the chamber, causing a mess and often breaking the unit, but somehow the Roam keeps everything where it should be, while delivering the perfect dial-your-temp functionality fit for anyone from a novice to heavy-pack smoker.

MouthPeace

Mouthpeace

Let’s face it – before COVID we stoners weren’t the best at preventing the spread of contagions amongst each other. A community defined by our ‘smoking circles’, we’ve frankly been reckless when it comes to sharing joints or bongs with anybody – not just trusted friends. Enter Mooselab’s Mouthpeace. While you may not need it solely for the safe-bong-sharing functionality right now (although I promise it will be a staple once we can get back to going out again!), something else that really excites me is the filter. If you’ve never put a real filter into a joint or blunt before you probably don’t realize how gross the residue is that the smoke leaves behind. Use a Mouthpeace on even one blunt and you’ll never want to smoke without it again! Pick up yours today!

Flower by Edie Parker

Flower by Edie Parker Accessories

Okay so cards on the table—I’m probably not the target market for these products. I’m clumsy, I break things, I’ve used the same rolling try for 5 years – in general, expensive and delicate items are not a good idea for me. Well, turns out that’s not ingrained in my DNA – it all changed when I checked out the Edie Parker cannabis wares. From adorable bowls shaped like fruits to some of the most beautiful lighters I’ve ever seen, this collection is perfect for the sophisticated smoker who leads with style, and isn’t afraid to spend a little money on their favorite habit. Not only that, these things are so gorgeous that when you pick them up you want to hold them like a baby – and this is coming from a guy who tosses his iPhone out the window instead of going downstairs. While I can’t promise all of these things will fit every budget, if you’re looking to splurge or get a little something special for the lady in your life, Edie Parker is a great place to start.

Volcano Hybrid

One of the products I’ve been most excited about recently is the new Volcano Hybrid – they FINALLY remade the volcano! Although the aesthetics are basically the same, they’ve finally updated the world’s-best vaporizer to include concentrates. Meaning you can now smoke your concentrates out of a bag – are you guys not as excited about this as I am?

Nugg Club

Nugg Club Box

The Nugg Club Box is a new monthly subscription service from Nugg, which delivers a curated selection of cannabis products directly to your doorstep every month. Boasting $225+ worth of products for just $99, the first box I received was pretty exciting. It’s beautifully designed, includes an info card for each brand included, and has all the accoutrements like papers, a lighter & a one hitter included every time. My box, which included 3 eighths, as well as 2 packs of joints, included goods from brands I trust like Lola & Lola (love) and Stone Road, as well as some newcomers like Dropout and Dreamland, which I was pleasantly surprised by. While I’m not sure this is something I need delivered every month, it’s a GREAT gift idea not just for the 4/20 holiday, but for Birthdays and Passover and all that too!

Moxie

Moxie Tiger Strains

Hey all you cool cats & kittens – this is a fun one! The experts over at Moxie have created some new limited tiger-themed strains, and they’re donating a portion of all the proceeds to the Tiger Protection Fund, a division of the World Wildlife Fund, to raise awareness about big cat animal abuse. Now, while I know they’ll never admit this limited drop is a homage to the series that’s reminded us all just how sane we truly are, these concentrates bite HARD. Launching with Tiger’s Blood (Goobers x Wildfire) and Cool Cats Cush (Wildfire x Wedding Cake), rest assured that these aren’t just a novelty run – this is true fire, and it’s for a great cause! Who knew there were so many freakin Tigers in America!

Tinley

Tinley

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite infused products on the market. The Tinley Elixirs are non-alcoholic, low dose Sativa edibles – in drink form. Inspired by classic alcohol recipes, Tinley’s line includes Tonics – their versions of drinks like Moscow Mules, and Elixirs – which are brewed in either a Coconut, Cinnamon, or Almond Cask. The almond is by far my favorite, it’s got a sweet amaretto taste with none of the bite of a typical tincture but all of the flavor you’d expect from a cocktail. For all those Cali-Sober out there like me, Tinley is an excellent way to consume in a discreet and unique way, while not feeling like the odd kid out at social functions!

Cuba Libre

Cuba Libre

You can’t have a true 4/20 celebration without sparking at least one cannagar! In this house, it’s all cannagars all day on Monday, and I can’t wait to smoke all these wood tips I’ve been saving. Hailing from the coveted cannabis producer haven Humboldt County, each of these hand rolled 2 gram L’s are filled with only the finest flower the state has to offer (including collabs with NorCal staples Fig Farms) and smoke like the true works of art they are. Available with a paper wrap, or in true fan-leaf cigarillo form, the Cuba Libre is sure to impress no matter the occasion.

Ghostbudsters

For all my friends holding it down in Michigan, be on watch – frequent Cannabis Cup winner Ghostbudsters Farm has some new HEAT starting to find its way into dispensaries across the state, and you’re in for a treat! I recently smuggled some Mendo Breath buds and Tropicanna Cookies sauce back home and let me just say, for a guy who lives in California to be this obsessed with something grown so far away is a big deal. Amongst my network I have a pretty famed collection of unique terp flavors that I keep stocked as a ‘herb drawer’ if you will – from the gassiest gas to the sweetest smelling plants you’ve ever seen, I probably saved a few nugs if it crossed my path. With all those delicious smells to choose from, I keep finding myself coming back to the Ghostbudsters products. I know this may be sacrilegious coming from a dude in LA, but Michigan has the FIRE.

Kiva Camino

I’m a guy who likes his gummies – and not just as a THC infused treat. If it’s sweet, and chewy, and sour, it’s usually up my alley. Because of this I’ve tried A LOT of gummy edibles – in fact, when I moved to a legal state, the first canna purchase I made was several packs of gummies and a THC soda (another vice) – so just to clarify, I don’t take the gummy game lightly. One of the first chocolate brands I was exposed to in that very same store was Kiva. I was immediately taken back by the beauty of their packaging and quickly made my second legal cannabis purchase. 3 of the old 240 bars. I was immediately a fan, and I’ve kept the brand close ever since. Recently they expanded their offerings to include the ‘Camino’ line and boy oh boy, they just keep getting better. Between the midnight blueberry ‘Relax’ flavor pushing CBN, to the ‘Uplifting’ pineapple habanero (my personal favorite), all the way to ‘Bliss’ their watermelon lemonade flavor, every single flavor profile is delicious, unique, and oh so addictive. As with all Kiva products – the hardest part about buying one of these is not eating it all at once! 10/10, highly recommend forever and for everyone.

A Golden State

A Golden State

Quietly coming up over the past two years, A Golden State is quickly becoming one of the states best producers in terms of consistent quality and photogenic buds. I first came across these guys at an event awhile back, and had the good fortune to try them out during one of my many visits to the nations-first cannabis cafe in Hollywood. While overdelivering on the top shelf flower it’s price commands, A Golden State has had a few strains that are must-cops if ever you see them. From Lava Flower, to Caramel Apple, I actually don’t think I’ve smoked anything from these guys that I haven’t loved. Even cooler, the plants are all sustainably grown with snowmelt from Mount Shasta, part of the Cascade Mountains AGS calls home, and in natural soil derived from coconut hulls. While this bud certainly feels like it was made in a lab, it’s good to know nature was actually involved!

Bert McCracken

The Taste of Peach Tincture

Let me start by saying that I was a huge fan of the Used back in my angsty teen years, so when I got the opportunity to try the new collab from frontman Bert McCracken and Five Star Extracts it was a no-brainer. I’m admittedly not a huge fan of tinctures or the lean-style THC products, but with this being a homage to one of my favorite songs of all time there was no way I was going to miss out. Let me start by saying calling this ‘The Taste of Peach’ is arguably the most accurate product name of all time – you can almost feel the fuzz. More than that, this vial packs 800mg of THC into every bottle, and at a time where it seems edibles are getting weaker and are only sold in smaller doses, this was a very welcome change. Dropping exclusively at Connected, this product is unfortunately only available in California for the time being. Now, while I won’t say I’ve been swayed for all ‘syrups’, this one has surely won me over. If you’d like to hear more about The Taste of Peach, or just hear about what Bert’s up to these days, check out my interview with him over on our Facebook page.

  1. I celebrated 420 this year soaking in my favorite cbd bath bombs lol It also happens to be my favorite go-to treatment for sore muscles, relaxation and to help with sleep. I got my cbd bath bombs for sale at getcbdinfusion.com/product/cbd-shower-bath-bomb/ – CBD Infusions products are amazing!

  2. JUST FYI: in your comments on HARING GLASS, You wondered why they call their ashtray a “CATCHALL”, well that’s Because it’s not an ashtray, it has much greater depth to it, and is usually found on an entryway table, so you can put things like keys and change and loose small items from your pockets when you get home… an ashtray is much shallower and has notches cut out for the cigarettes and cigars…

  3. Very nice and informative article. I like how you have explained everything so nicely. I celebrated 420 year having a spa day using CBD oil and after that a relaxed bath session!!! I like gummies but I feel like my body is not ready to accept them everytime I eat them but it’s okay. To me the real and peaceful thing is smoking marijuana. Nothing more sooting than inhaling a joint, dragging away the stress out of you slowly. https://mdberry.com/fundamental-facts-about-marijuana-dabbing-tools/ Also review some amazing dabbing tools for marijauna!!!
