By 2018, Backpack Boyz had scaled it into meaningful production, and a drop at Cookies Melrose helped send the name racing through California cannabis.
That origin makes Lemon Cherry Gelato a selected Gelato #33 offspring with an unidentified pollen parent. Because Gelato #33 descends from Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC, many databases flatten the story into a direct Sunset Sherbet × GSC cross. That shorthand describes the family tree, but not the documented discovery.
By 2022, Lemon Cherry Gelato had become one of High Times’ best strains of the year and a must-have clone for growers chasing candy terps, dark flowers, and instant shelf presence.
