Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman was an American actor from the early nineties until his death in February of 2014. He had a passion for the art from an early age and he quickly rose to stardom by the end of the nineties. Making us fascinated by the depth and stories of the awful and troubled men he played was one of his greatest skills.

Despite friends of Hoffman claiming that his drug use was under control, he opened up about breaking his two-decade break from heroin in 2013.

Opiates played a role in his death according to a New York City medical examiner. He died accidentally from “acute mixed drug intoxication, including heroin, cocaine, benzodiazepines and amphetamines.”

He was found with a needle in his left arm and there were at least 50 unopened baggies of heroin packaged for individual sale, according to sources.

Final Hit: Celebrities Who Have Died From Opiates

These are only a few recent celebrities who have died from opiates. The actual list is much longer and little is being done by the government to remedy the ongoing opioid crisis. Most relief is coming from herbal alternative pain-relievers like kratom or cannabis.

Some of the celebrities who have died from opiates ended up addicted to them after using them to treat pain. There are several cannabinoids in cannabis that can help with pain and other ailments without a chance of addiction or death by overdose.

Statistics have shown that opioid mortality rates are dropping in areas with legal weed. In fact, Colorado’s 14-year trend of increasing opioid-related deaths finally began to decrease after the legalization of cannabis. Patients in the state are buying or learning how to grow weed instead of purchasing more harmful pills.
