Following the grand opening of the Peter Tosh Museum in New Kingston, Jamaica last month, rock ‘n’ roll legend Mick Jagger recently sent a video congratulating the family and estate of the late reggae icon. Released exclusively on PeterTosh.com, Jagger—Tosh’s longtime friend and collaborator—sent well wishes and shared their story in the new footage.
Tosh was the only reggae artist signed to the Rolling Stones’ record label from 1978 until 1981, and he collaborated with Jagger on 1978’s “Walk and Don’t Look Back.” The “Legalize It” singer also opened for the Stones throughout their 1978 U.S. tour and is featured in the opening scene of the group’s video for “Waiting On A Friend.”
The Peter Tosh Museum, which officially opened to the public on November 1st, promises to give fans a deeper look into the man behind the music—showcasing personal artifacts, including tour jackets, Tosh’s passports, his famed M16 guitar and his beloved unicycle. Fans can expect a fascinating and introspective look into the life of one of Jamaica’s most celebrated figures.
The museum’s hours of operation are Monday – Friday: 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Pulse Centre—38a Trafalgar Road, New Kingston, Jamaica.
