Marijuana isn’t just useful for PTSD, it’s also shown to be a huge job creator in this new, emerging industry. On this Veteran’s Day 2014, We’d like to make a recommendation to our fine service men and women who are struggling with unemployment: Try the
marijuana industry.
In 2013, one in 11 veterans were jobless according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics — and 200,000 of the 2.8 million Americans who have served our country since 9/11 remain unemployed. These numbers are way too high and it’s imperative that we do a better job at helping our vets return to the work force.
Dave Mason, guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Traffic volunteers his time with
Work Vessels for Vets and sympathizes with those who are without work. “Our returning veterans face a struggle transitioning from military to civilian life, and once you add in the lack of jobs to our current economic state the problem just gets worse,” says Mason. He likes to point veterans he works with in the direction of cannabis-related job boards. “Weedhire.com is an avenue in which veterans can find employment into an industry just breaking out of its infancy. It’s a perfect fit,” says Mason.
