12 States Smoking the Most Marijuana

As first reported by HIGH TIMES, not all states are equal when it comes to marijuana use, and it’s no surprise to anyone that Colorado leads the nation with 21.6 percent of people reporting cannabis use in the past year. The website 24/7 Wall St. recently reviewed data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration and found which 12 states smoke the most weed.

12. California

Total Users: 4,6,33,000
Percent Using Illicit Drugs Other than Marijuana in Past Month: 4.2%

11. Michigan

Percent Using Marijuana in Past Year: 15.6%
Total Users: 1,304,000
Percent Using Illicit Drugs Other than Marijuana in Past Month: 3.1%
Maximum Fine for Possession: $2,000

10. New Mexico

Percent Using Marijuana in Past Year: 15.6%
Total Users: 267,000
Percent Using Illicit Drugs Other than Marijuana in Past Month: 2.4%
Maximum Fine for Possession: $5,000

9. New Hampshire

Percent Using Marijuana in Past Year: 17.1%
Total Users: 194,000
Percent Using Illicit Drugs Other than Marijuana in Past Month: 3.7%

8. Massachusetts
