California Drug Cop Busted Smuggling $2 Million Worth of Marijuana

A California narcotics agent was busted in Pennsylvania last week carrying a felonious amount of marijuana, which authorities estimated has a street value of $2 million.

It seems that 37-year-old Christopher M. Heath, a deputy with the Yuba County Police Department, took a little vacation time with a few of his buddies over the holidays to smuggle around 240 pounds of weed across the country.

Reports show the shipment was headed to an individual in West Manheim Township, Pennsylvania, when investigators received word from a local snitch that a sizeable haul was coming into the state.

When the York County Police Department finally caught up with Heath and his two accomplices, officers discovered around 120 individually wrapped, vacuum-sealed packages of raw marijuana tucked away inside two pickup trucks.

District Attorney Tom Kearney told reporters at a press conference that the bust was part of a massive investigation spanning the entire state.

When asked if investigators knew that Heath was a cop at the time of his arrest, Kearney suggested police “did not become aware of that until we made the stop.”

“One has to be both saddened and angry when you hear of something like this,” Kearney said. “The work that is done by the task force and police officers in general is very dangerous work, and it is made more dangerous by the fact that occasionally there is a bad apple in the barrel.”

Back home, in California, Heath has been placed on paid administrative leave until the charges can be hashed out next month in front of District Judge James Miner.
