At least one Georgia legislator is looking to expand the state's restrictive medical marijuana program.
According to 11Alive News, Macon Representative Allen Peake has released a new public service announcement that aims to expand the current program to a greater number of patients. The video, which is narrated by Air Force veteran and founder of the Veterans for Cannabis organization, also calls for safe, regulated and legal in-state cultivation of medicinal pot.
Currently, Georgia's medi-pot program only allows patients with eight specific conditions to use low-THC cannabis oil if approved by a doctor and the state. There is no in-state cultivation, meaning that legal patients have to find other ways to obtain the oil.
