Grow Q&A: Strain For Social Anxiety

Dear Dan, I am a previous pot smoker and I enjoyed it when I did smoke years ago. However, about 4 or 5 years ago I quit smoking because I would get very paranoid and experience social anxiety. This is the only reason that caused me to discontinue smoking marijuana. I want to start smoking again but I am worried about getting paranoia and anxiety again.
I’m leaning towards a indica or indica-dominant strain but am open to sativas as well.  I also have been researching high CBD strains because I have bad back pain. The main thing though that I’m looking for is a strain that will not give me any social anxiety issues. Strength, taste, appearance, etc. isn’t of importance to me like the type of high is. I have not smoked or used any marijuana products for the last 4-5 years so my tolerance is low/null. What are your recommendations of strains for me? – Free Weedom

Dear Free,
I’m sorry to hear about your troubles. The same strain can affect different people in varying ways. You need to figure out whether it’s indicas or sativas that soothe your symptoms and then stick with what works.

As far as indica-dominant strains, I would recommend Kosher Kush, MK-Ultra and Loud Scout. For sativas, some good anxiety-soothing ones are Blue Dream, Jack Herer and Lemon Haze. If you’re looking for high CBD varieties, I recommend the seeds available from CBD Crew. They have a great selection of strains including Medi Haze, Critical Mass and Sweet and Sour Widow.

Since you’re leaning towards indicas, and you’re looking for something high in CBD as well, try CBD Crew’s high-CBD Shark, a fast flowering plant with soothing qualities. The calming effect generated by this variety is great for relaxation and pain relief at the same time; seemingly perfect for your particular condition.
