You read that correctly — the fine folks at DC Comics decided that after roping in the “scenticular” glories of smells like pizza, leather, and sun tan lotion, the next most plausible choice for the Harley Quinn Annual #1 would be a scratch ‘n sniff featuring the skunky aroma of their favorite ganja. Clocking in at $5.99, these comics (split into two different cover options) beat out every challenger in the advance reorder charts.
From the experienced toker looking to snag a novelty item to the “Is-this-what-getting-high-is-like” 12-year-old, everyone seemed to enjoy the concept. Even better: International issues will feature the same smell, but with the description reading as “fresh-cut grass” to avoid any outrage.
“The basic story is Poison Ivy has been thrown in Arkham Asylum, and Harley gets word that she’s in there and decides that she’s going to break her out,” writer James Palmiotti explained to IGN.
