High Times announced on Monday that its new Cannabis Cup: People’s Choice Edition will be coming to Colorado this summer. The event will continue High Times’ trend of bringing its signature series of cannabis product competitions online in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The goal of the competition is to identify and recognize Colorado’s best recreational cannabis products across a range of categories. As a People’s Choice Edition competition, this will be the first event of its kind open to the Colorado public and will likely see the largest pool of judges in history.

Entries are open to all adult-use cannabis companies licensed by Colorado’s Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED). The event gives cannabis brands the opportunity to receive thousands of impressions while getting their products into the hands of hundreds of new customers, who will provide feedback on the entries they sample.

The  Cannabis Cup Colorado: People’s Choice Edition will feature products from 11 different categories, including indica, sativa, and hybrid flower, pre-rolls, solvent and non-solvent concentrates, vape pens/cartridges, food edibles such as chocolates and gummies, non-food edibles including tinctures and capsules, and topicals.. Entry fees are $500 for 1 entry, $250 per entry for 2 entries, and if you enter 3 or more entries, High Times will waive the fee altogether.

High Times’ intake partner for the Cannabis Cup Colorado: People’s Choice Edition will be The Green Solution, a family-owned vertically integrated cannabis producer and retailer with 18 dispensary locations in the state. All entries submitted must be grown and manufactured in Colorado at a MED-licensed facility. Entry intake will occur in Denver on June 8-9 and in Pueblo June 11-12.

Judging kits will be available beginning on June 27, with the judging period continuing through July 29. The best of the best will be revealed in a virtual awards presentation show to be held online on Saturday, August 30.

High Times announced in March that it was taking its series of cannabis competitions online in response to the growing coronavirus outbreak. The inaugural High Times Hemp Cup, which had been scheduled to take place as a traditional in-person event in Austin, Texas, was instead held online on April 4, recognizing winners in eight categories. The High Times Cannabis Cup Oklahoma: People’s Choice Edition will begin its judging period in late May, with winners scheduled to be announced at an online awards show on June 27.
