When the scent of cinnamon and pumpkin spice fills the air everywhere you go, you know that obligatory seasonal marketing season has arrived yet again. Shelves overflow with a pumpkin spice version of nearly EVERYTHING from coffee and baked goods, to soap and air freshener. I’m surprised I haven’t seen Pumpkin Spice Kush on the shelves in dispensaries yet!
Junk food companies cash in on the craze with items like Pumpkin Spice Oreos, which I might be willing to indulge in, but other products go way over the line into the realm of absurdity. Pumpkin spice kale chips to dip into pumpkin salsa, and pumpkin beer to wash down your pumpkin pasta? There is not enough top-shelf weed in the world to make me crave Pumpkin Spice Pringles potato crisps (yes, that is an actual product), or a culinary monstrosity such as pumpkin molasses BBQ sauce.
Escape the relentless retail pumpkin spice frenzy in favor of creating your own psychedelic pumpkin recipes at home, with traditional flavors that fulfill nostalgic cravings. Here are five of my favorite classic fall recipes that are perfect for Friendsgiving parties, potlucks or at-home celebrations. After all, the spice must flow!
There’s no need to go to a coffee house to enjoy this season’s favorite hot drink, especially since baristas can’t add cannabis to their beverages! If you have an espresso machine, so much the better, but if not, just brew up a strong pot of coffee and let the magic of pumpkin spice do the rest.
What could be better than a classic Thanksgiving dessert enhanced with a touch of Mary Jane? This recipe was originally intended to make four mini pies, each containing two servings of THC. If you prefer, you can also make this as a larger 9-inch pie.
This cake appears complicated to make, but it’s actually pretty easy and requires no special tools or pastry bags. Just bake the pumpkin spice batter on a large cookie sheet, spread filling over the cooled cake and roll it all up like a big fat doobie. Decorate with a light dusting of powdered sugar for a simple yet spectacular presentation.
Mini Pumpkin Cheeba Cheesecakes
Bake these Mini Pumpkin Cheesecakes in individual ramekins for personal portions or use a muffin tin lined with paper liners, much like you would when making cupcakes. Take the last-minute holiday meal prep pressure off by making this dank dessert well ahead of time, then wrap well and keep in the freezer. Before serving, bring to room temperature and enjoy!
Pumpkin spice works great with yams and sweet potatoes! This decadent side dish delivers lots of sweet fall flavors and is naturally portion controlled, with each guest getting their own stuffed yam. Use your handy dab torch to toast the marshmallow topping, otherwise a quick trip under the broiler does the trick.
